Who is the St. Albert & Sturgeon Area Legacy Fund

We are people like you, who want to see the local community grow and succeed. We want to create a legacy for our children.

How it Started

 

Our hope is to generate a lasting Legacy Fund that will send earnings to the Rotary Club of St. Albert with its many projects in perpetuity.  This fund will send earnings on a yearly basis to the club for charitable use only within the context of St. Albert/Sturgeon County, National or International Rotary objectives and causes.

SASALF Was Born

October 1, 2021

The St.Albert & Sturgeon Area Legacy Fund was formed on April 1st, 2021 by the four founding members.

Website Launched

July 6, 2022

Sasalf.ca was launched to help spread awareness and to provide contact information and ways to donate to the fund.

First Fundraising Goal

April 1, 2024

The organization plans to fundraise $250,000 by April 1st, 2024 with matching funds from other donors.

Second Fundraising Goal

April 1, 2034

Within 10 years, SASALF hopes to raise $1 million to fully establish the funds regular giving.

The Founding Members

James Kazoleas

Premium Rentals Properties Inc. | Mountain Pizza & Steakhouse

James Kazoleas is an Albertan raised entrepreneur, philanthropist, and family man. James started in the restaurant business taking over his father’s reigns and operating Mountain Pizza and Steakhouse, a staple & traditional stop for locals and visitors in the Edson and Whitecourt areas. James then later moved to the St.Albert and Sturgeon area, where he developed and continues to manage multi-family residential buildings. James set his roots down in St.Albert by transferring  his Edson Rotary membership to the St. Albert  Rotary Club and participating in many community building projects

James truly has a passion for his family and is married to Denise and they have four lovely children: Tori, Lucas, Alexa, Kayla. He enjoys hunting, mountain skiing, hiking and spending time with his family. James has a passion for health and living life to its fullest.  His hope for the St. Albert and Sturgeon Area Legacy Fund is to help create sustainable funds to benefit the community building of the area, and to create a legacy for his children to be proud of, and to participate in.

Laszlo Szojka

D. W. Good Investment Company Ltd.

Laszlo Szojka lives in Sturgeon County east of St. Albert, but has been part of the St. Albert community since 1995. Laszlo studied Engineering at the University of Alberta until 1992 and went into business shortly there after. Married to his spouse Andrea since 1995, they have raised three children. Laszlo has worked as a financial advisor for over 30 years and presently operates his practice out of St. Albert with DW Good Investment Company. He is a member of the St. Albert Rotary Club since 2004 and has served many positions with the club including President, Treasurer, Sergeant, Youth exchange chair and various committees. He has served on the Board of the Transitions as Treasurer for a number of years. Working with the St. Albert Rotary Club, it is Laszlo’s hope to leave a legacy for future Rotarians to use funds generated in perpetuity.

Robert Gallant

Meadow Construction Ltd.

Robert Gallant has lived in Sturgeon County since 1990 . A graduate from the Construction Technologies Program at Holland College Robert has been working in the civil construction industry ever since. Married to Marla in 1984 , they are grateful to have had the privilege of raising their children in the St Albert area. Robert has been self employed since 1987 as a contractor in central Alberta . Compassionate giving of time and self has always been at the centre of their family’s belief . Robert joined Rotary in 2008 and served as president in 2013 , he served fourteen years on the county volunteer fire department , the last four years as area fire chief and is now on his third term sitting on the St Albert food bank board. These are but a few of the organizations the Gallant family have been and are  involved in. We believe the establishment of this legacy fund is the best possible way of saying thank you and to keep giving  to a community that has been so good to us after we are unable to give ourselves.
